
Intense fighting in war-torn Aleppo has virtually made it impossible for thousands of civilians to leave the ravaged city as the evacuation deal brokered by Turkey and Russia appeared increasingly fragile. The deal would have possibly ended years of fighting in the city, in what could be the biggest victory for the Syria’s Bashar al Assad.
But this was not to be.
A recently brokered ceasefire deal between the Syrian government and rebels collapsed today, with fighter aircrafts pounding opposition’s densely crowded enclave east of the city. Meanwhile, Syrian President Bashar Assad had said that western countries are seeking a ceasefire to ‘the terrorists’. He added that the ceasefire was to stop Syrian government’s advance in the city and save the terrorists.

As innocent civilians continue to suffer the worst kind of repression, torture, displacement and genocide, people from across the world express anguish and offer their silent prayers on social media to whoever cares to listen. Maybe, tomorrow will be too late for the people of Aleppo.
