Qandeel Baloch murder: Twitterati shocked at ‘honour killing’ of Pak model and Internet sensation

Qandeel Baloch was reportedly killed by her brother at home. This is being termed as an incident of honour killing.

Pakistani model and social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch was reportedly murdered by her brother on July 15. According to an Express Tribune report, Baloch was strangled to death at her Multan house. Though the reason for the crime is yet unknown, the Pakistani media has hailed it as an incident of ‘honour killing’.

The model had apparently been receiving death threats and had even asked for security. According to a Dawn report, Baloch’s brother had been threatening her for posting videos and pictures on social media.

The murder of Baloch, who was widely followed on social media for her videos and selfies, immediately elicited a reaction on social media websites such as Twitter and Facebook, with people sad and outraged about the incident. Though, there were some who still berated the deceased for her choice of a public image.
