On Monday, the blue bird logo of Twitter changed to a shiba inu dog image, popularly known as the Doge meme. The image has been associated with the Dogecoin cryptocurrency, which is often promoted by Twitter CEO Elon Musk.
This change in logo appears to be a late April fool’s prank by the micro-blogging website. After changing Twitter’s logo, Musk tweeted about the change through a meme and also shared screenshots of an old Twitter conversation in which a Twitter user had asked him to buy the social media platform and then change its logo to a ‘doge’.
Twitter has been flooded with memes about the logo change since Monday.

It is interesting to note that this change comes just days after Musk petitioned in court for the dismissal of a 258 billion dollar lawsuit filed against him by Dogecoin investors for allegedly promoting Dogecoin in an illegal pyramid scheme style.
In February 2021, Musk posted a series of tweets in support of Dogecoin, after which the cryptocurrency’s price surged by 44 per cent, as per a report by Market Watch. A similar effect of Musk’s endorsement appeared on Monday as well when the Investor’s Business Daily reported that Dogecoin’s value spiked by 36 per cent after Twitter’s logo change.
On Tuesday morning, the official Twitter account of Dogecoin shared the now-iconic photo of the dog behind the Doge meme and wrote, “The dog behind the #Doge meme and #Dogecoin cryptocurrency is named Kabosu and she still lives with her owner Atsuko Sato
@kabosumama in Sakura, Japan. Kabosu was a rescue dog and became a meme after Atsuko uploaded photos of Kabosu, including the one below, on her blog in 2010.” Last year, Kaosu celebrated her 17th birthday on November 2.
