A physically challenged Mumbai shopkeeper was attacked with a sword by an unidentified assailant on Tuesday night but survived thanks to a customer who came to his rescue.
Rajnish Singh Thakur, the shopkeeper, suffered injuries to his neck and hand and is currently undergoing intensive care treatment.
CCTV footage from the store shows a man entering the shop and immediately slashing Thakur who was sitting behind the counter.
A customer who was at the store immediately pounced on the attacker, tackling him, and pushing him out of the store.
According to reports, the attack was linked to shopkeepers in the area putting up posters against extortionists who regularly demanded Rs 1,000 to purchase drugs.
