Copa America 2024: The electric atmosphere of the Maracanã in Rio still crackles with the memory of Argentina’s Copa America victory, spearheaded by the legendary Lionel Messi. Messi-led Argentina continued their form and won the 2022 Finalissima against the EURO 2022 champions Italy before defeating France in the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals to complete their straight run. Now, anticipation surges as the United States steps into the spotlight to host the 2024 edition. From June 20 to July 14, sixteen elite teams will clash for continental supremacy in this historic and fiercely passionate tournament.

Notably, till the 1990s, only teams from South America used to feature in the tournament, but after the 1990s, teams from North America also became part of the tournament.

The CONMEBOL Copa America 2024 will be hosted by the United States of America.

Copa America 2024: Dates

The CONMEBOL Copa America 2024 will be comprise 32 matches in total, including 24 group stage matches and 8 playoff matches The league stages of the tournament will begin on June 22 and will continue till July 2, while the knockout stage will start from July 4 and will conclude with the final on July 14.

Copa America 2024: Teams

A total of 16 teams are participating in the 2024 Copa America and are divided into four groups of four teams. Group A consists of the defending champions, Argentina, along with Peru, Chile and Canada. Group B will have Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela and Jamaica. Group C will include USA, Chile, Panama and Bolivia, while Group D will be home to Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay and Costa Rica.

Notably, every team will play one match against the other teams of the same group during the league stages, with the top two teams securing their place in the tournament’s quarter-finals.
