Google has hundreds of useful apps and services, but the company has a track record of unexpectedly shutting down many of them. The latest to join the trend is the Podcasts app, which the company recently confirmed will no longer be available after June 23.
In a blog post last year, Google said that Podcasts users will either have the option to migrate their subscriptions to YouTube Music or download the list as an OPML file, which can then be exported to a podcast app of the user’s choice. The company also said the migration tool will be available until July 29.
1. Open the Google Podcasts app on your device.
2. Tap on the ‘Export subscriptions’ button that appears on the top of the screen.
3. Under the ‘Export to YouTube Music’ section, press the ‘Export’ button.
4. Now, YouTube Music will be launched and ask if you are ready to transfer your subscriptions to the account you have signed in to.
5. Click the ‘Transfer as xyz@gmail.com‘ button and tap on the ‘Continue’ button.
Google says your podcast subscriptions will be added as third-party podcasts to your YouTube Music library. If you don’t like YouTube Music, there is also an option to download your subscriptions as an OPML, which can then be used to export your podcasts to the app of your choice.
