French consumer tech company Withings is officially bringing its line of advanced health monitoring devices to the Indian market. Withings is the pioneer of the first connected smart scale and has become a leader in developing clinically-validated, connected health solutions.

Leading Withings’ Indian launch is the Body Scan smart scale. Going far beyond just measuring weight, the Body Scan utilises multiple sensors to assess full body composition metrics like muscle mass, visceral fat levels, and more. It can even record a 6-lead electrocardiogram to detect potential cardiac arrhythmias and evaluate nerve health through bioelectrical impedance analysis.

For those looking to track general health trends, Withings is offering the Body Smart Scale that estimates body composition components like fat and muscle mass.

Wearable tech is also a major focus with Withings’ debut of the ScanWatch2 hybrid smartwatch in India. The ScanWatch2 blends smart fitness/sleep tracking capabilities with powerful medical-grade sensors. It can take electrocardiogram and blood oxygen readings, while also monitoring skin temperature fluctuations.

For a more affordable option, the ScanWatch Light provides many of the same advanced health sensors in an analog watch design.

Withings entrance into the Indian market comes at a time when the cardiovascular health crisis in India is reaching alarming levels. Cardiovascular diseases strike Indians a decade earlier than Western populations on average, according to research cited in the press release. In fact, 20% of worldwide deaths from cardiovascular diseases occur in India.

At the same time, 70% of urban Indians are classified as obese, ranking 3rd globally in obesity prevalence.
