(Image: Lenskart)Lenskart, a company that manufactures sunglasses and glasses, has announced that it is coming up with AI-powered camera smartglasses called B by Lenskart. This project will reportedly enable seamless integrations across categories like food delivery, entertainment, fitness, and more by making its AI and camera technology available to top consumer apps and independent developers.
This will turn smart glasses from a lifestyle accessory into a platform for daily use. B by Lenskart weighs only 40 gm and is about 20 per cent lighter than similar smartglasses and has been designed for everyday wear.
This new step towards AI-powered glasses puts Lenskart as India’s first full-stack wearables ecosystem. The AI-powered camera glasses are created and engineered in India for the global market and are expected to go on sale by the end of December 2025.
The glasses are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset, the same platform used by other leading AR device manufacturers. The B by Lenskart features an integrated Sony camera for hands-free photography and videos. The device has a built-in AI assistant, powered by Google’s Gemini 2.5 Live, which enables natural human-like interactions. The glasses can also make hands-free UPI payments, live translate a conversation, and more.
Lenskart intends to expand production using its manufacturing capabilities, data analytics, and omnichannel retail network. The corporation has also made investments in XR and AI startups, such as Ajna Lens, to expand its horizon.
According to industry analysts cited by Lenskart, the worldwide smartglass market is expected to reach $4–5 billion by 2030, with India foreseen to be a major growing area.
A few months ago, Meta also unveiled a number of smart glasses with an emphasis on wearables with artificial intelligence. The Ray-Ban Meta Display, a $799 pair of smart glasses with a contextual information display on the right lens, is one of them. These spectacles were introduced in the US on September 30, representing a move towards a new computing platform.
