Sony introduced its latest flagship WF-1000XM5 truly wireless earbuds in India on Wednesday. The earbuds will be available at a special price of Rs 24,990 and can be pre-ordered starting today. Sony’s latest wireless earbuds claim to offer premium sound quality and the best noise-cancelling performance.

The earbuds are powered by the new V2 processor and QN2e HD noise-cancelling processor, along with a Deep Neural Network-based AI algorithm to reduce wind noise. Three microphones on each earbud help with low-frequency cancellation. Similarly, the redesigned ear tips, made using polyurethane, also aid in noise isolation in the high-frequency range by effectively blocking out sound.

When compared to its predecessor, the WF-1000XM5 are 25 per cent smaller and 20 per cent lighter. Despite the compact form factor, they are now equipped with Dynamic Driver X, supporting wide frequency reproduction, along with a new diaphragm structure to deliver clear highs and deep bass with minimal noise distortion.

Sony’s latest flagship TWS supports high-resolution audio via LDAC (limited to Android), and there is also DSEE Extreme technology that upscales low-resolution music in real-time. It also features adaptive sound control, speak-to-chat, and multi-point connection, similar to the bigger WH-1000XM5. The buds are IPX4-rated for sweat resistance. Users can also tinker around the audio profile via the Sony Headphones app.

The buds can provide up to 8 hours of music playback, and with the case, they can deliver up to 24 hours of battery life. There is fast-wired charging over USB-C and support for wireless Qi charging. Additionally, a quick three minutes of charging can deliver one hour of music playback time.

Similar to its predecessor, the product comes with 100 per cent paper packaging, and the buds are made using recycled plastic materials. The earbuds will be available for purchase starting October 18 in Black and Platinum Silver colour variants. Those who pre-order will receive a cashback of Rs 3,000 and will also receive a Sony SRS-XB100 portable wireless speaker worth Rs 4,990 for free.
