Oakley is preparing to bring its latest generation of smart eyewear to India, announcing that the new Oakley Meta HSTN AI glasses will go on sale nationwide beginning December 1. Positioned as belonging to a fresh category of performance-driven AI eyewear, the Meta HSTN series is aimed at athletes, sports lovers, and users who wish to have AI technology built directly into their everyday gear.
The frame houses an integrated camera that lets users capture moments mid-movement without reaching for their phone, while open-ear speakers deliver audio cues and updates without blocking environmental sound. The device is water-resistant and has a rating of IPX4, which makes the glasses suitable for outdoor and weather-exposed environments.
Oakley also says that the glasses double as an everyday AI assistant. A “Hey Meta” activates hands-free support, allowing users to ask questions, record moments, access information, or get assistance while staying focused on their activity. In a major step toward accessibility, Oakley has added full Hindi language support via the Meta AI app. This allows users to interact with the device, manage tasks, or capture content completely in Hindi, powered by Sarvam’s language tools.
Meta AI is also rolling out its new Celebrity AI Voice feature on the device. Among the first voices available to Indian users is the English AI voice of actor Deepika Padukone, joining a global lineup of expressive and recognisable celebrity-driven voice options.
Oakley is additionally testing a new payment feature that brings UPI Lite transactions directly to the glasses. Users will soon be able to look at a QR code and say, “Hey Meta, scan and pay,” enabling secure payments linked to their WhatsApp-connected bank accounts.
The Meta HSTN lineup will launch in six frame and lens combinations, all compatible with prescription lenses, giving buyers a wide range of styles to choose from. Pre-orders have opened on Sunglass Hut, with availability expanding to major eyewear and optical retailers across the country. Prices will start at Rs 41,800.
