Lenovo might soon join Asus with its own Windows-powered handheld gaming console — Legion Go. According to a report by Windows Central, the new handheld gaming console will compete against Valve’s Steam Deck and the recently launched ROG Ally and will ship with Windows 11 OS.
It looks like Legion Go will be powered by AMD’s new Pheonix APUs, which are based on RDNA3 graphics architecture and are usually sold as Ryzen 7040U or Ryzen Z1 and Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
To give you a quick recap, AMD recently unveiled its Pheonix chip lineup, which is the world’s first chip with dedicated AI engines. Dubbed Ryzen AI, the chips use ‘local distributed memory’ to offer higher bandwidth and improved efficiency. In 2021, Lenovo was reportedly working on an Android-powered handheld gaming console called ‘Legion Play’.
While there are no details on how the Legion Go might look, the report suggests the handheld gaming device might sport an 8-inch Full HD screen with an aspect ratio of 16:9. This means Legion Go might be bigger in terms of dimensions compared to the Steam Deck and ROG Ally, both of which sport a 7-inch display.
It is still unclear if and when Lenovo plans to unveil Legion Go, so we will have to wait and see.
