Duolingo, often dubbed as the most popular language learning app, has come up with a new feature for English learners from Tamil Nadu. The ‘Learn English From Tamil’ feature has been designed to meet the needs of Tamil speakers, allowing them to acquire proficiency in English.

“Localisation lies at the heart of our mission to make language learning accessible and relevant for everyone. With the ‘Learn English from Tamil’ course, we’re excited to offer Tamil speakers an opportunity to learn English in a way that feels culturally resonant and engaging,” said Karandeep Singh Kapany, Regional Marketing Director, Duolingo India.

The latest course would be the fourth Indic course on the platform after Bengali, Hindi, and Telugu. With lessons in regional languages, Duolingo is dismantling the barriers to language learning and making it accessible to all. Just like other courses on the platform, the course offers a gamified, engaging, and culturally resonant learning experience. This, according to the company, makes it easier for Tamil speakers to ace English at their own pace and for free.

Tamil is seen as the cornerstone of India’s cultural and linguistic diversity. With its latest course, Duolingo has reaffirmed its commitment to enabling Tamil speakers to learn English with ease. “India’s linguistic diversity inspires us to create courses that reflect the unique needs of our users, and this launch is another step in our journey to empower learners across the country,” said Kapany.

On the launch of the new course, Duolingo has come up with a vibrant campaign named English Vaathi Duo in collaboration with creative agency Talented. The unique campaign yokes Tamil pop culture with Duo’s quirky personality.
