JioStar, the joint venture between Viacom18 and Star India today launched JioHotstar, a new streaming platform that brings together all the content these two services have to offer.
The new streaming platform will offer content in 10 languages and even aggregates content from various international studios and streaming services like NBC Universal Peacock, Warner Bros, Discovery, HBO and Paramount.
Like before, subscribers will also be able to enjoy sports like the Indian Premier League (IPL), International Cricket Council (ICC) tournaments, and English Premier League football from a single app.
JioHotstar offers several ad-supported free tier that lets you watch content on the platform, a strategy that was also used by Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema. The streaming service says that all plans include “access to all content” like live sports, latest movies as well as originals. But if you want to watch the latest shows in higher resolution, here’s a quick look at all the JioHotstar paid plans.
The JioHotstar mobile is the cheapest plan on the list. This ad-supported plan lets you access content in HD resolution (720p) on one mobile device at a time and costs Rs 149 for 3 months. However, we recommend going with the Rs 499 annual plan, which lets you enjoy content for an entire year.
Looking for a cheap plan that lets you watch content on a big screen? The ad-supported Super plan might be the one for you. It lets you log-in to two devices simultaneously and enjoy content in FullHD (1080p) and also comes with Dolby Atmos support. It costs Rs 299 for three months and Rs 899 for 12 months.
Want to watch your favourite movies and TV shows in 4K? JioHotstar’s Premium plan might cater to your needs. This ad-free plan lets you log in to any four devices at a time, but the company says users will still see some ads in live content like sports and other shows.
If you are an existing JioCinema or Disney+ Hotstar customer, your subscription will stay valid until the next payment date. After your membership ends, you will have to pay for any of the aforementioned JioHotstar plans.
