The plug has finally been pulled. After Disney confirmed early last month that it will no longer carry HBO content starting March 31, your beloved shows including House of the Dragon and the Last of Us are no longer streamable on the platform.
While there’s plenty of discourse on the internet about where to find those shows now, the hard truth is that there’s no official way to do so. Fortunately, not all is lost and there are still platforms available in India with quality content you can subscribe to. Today, we take a look at those.
Lionsgate Play
It’s not the most extensive streaming service but it’s still got its share of quality shows and movies, including a few exclusives. For Rs 99 per month or Rs 699 per year, you gain access to quality shows like Casual, Tokyo Vice, The Tourist, The Twelve, the John Wick series, and a lot more.

The app’s home page particularly emphasises the service’s movie catalogue, which at first sight seems to be brimming with blockbusters. All in all, Lionsgate Play may appeal to fans of Hollywood content who are looking for a niche platform or something they can rewatch popular films on.
Apple TV+
No, Apple TV+ is not limited to Apple TV owners alone – like Netflix, it can be enjoyed on just about any device. Launched in 2019 with a small batch of originals, the service has steadily grown its library since. It’s still not as large as compared to streaming ‘A-listers’ like Netflix and Amazon Prime. But Apple TV+ has attracted subscribers nonetheless with its strong, award-winning originals like Ted Lasso, 1971, Acapulco, Severance, and Mythic Quest.
For a monthly subscription starting at just Rs 99 after a free 7‑day trial, you get access to high-quality shows you’ll not find on any other streaming service.
Amazon Prime Video
Rumours are doing rounds about HBO content moving on to Amazon Prime Video after being pulled from Disney+ Hotstar, even as there’s no official confirmation as of yet. Amazon already offers channels like HBO Max sister channel Discovery+, AMC+, Lionsgate Play, alongside a few HBO originals too.

These originals include Raised By Wolves, The Flight Attendant, And Just Like That, and Gossip Girl. If you were watching any of these on Disney+ Hotstar, then you can subscribe to Prime Video instead for Rs 179 a month and continue your binge seamlessly.
Netflix
Despite facing flak for its recent moves against password sharing and the fact that it’s losing subscribers to rival platforms in the country, Netflix continues to be a great choice, especially for young adults. New shows like Wednesday and The Sandman continue to be exclusive to Netflix in the country, joined by critically acclaimed older shows like Better Call Saul, The Witcher, and Stranger Things.
