Besides being a smartphone, there are a multitude of applications for the Apple iPhone. According to a new document listed on the company’s developer platform, you might soon be able to use your iPhone cameras for pet tracking within the house.
Apple has released a new framework for developers that allows them to create apps and services for iPhones using the new DockKit to deliver “photo and video experiences.” This requires additional hardware like the motorised stand, and developers can make use of the Animal Body Pose API, which can identify various actions of a pet such as posing, sitting down, standing up, and more.
With motorised hardware and the DockKit framework, developers will be able to create new apps and experiences for the iPhone for pet tracking, and the motorised stand when paired with an iPhone is also said to be capable of offering a 360-degree field of view.
It’s not confirmed whether there will be first-party hardware and an app from Apple for pet tracking or if one has to rely on third-party apps and services.
There are plenty of motorised stands for iPhones, and with iOS 17, the company is allowing developers to get the most out of them. Apple is adding a lot of new features with the iOS 17 update, and one such prominent feature is StandBy mode, where an iPhone doubles as a digital desk clock while charging. iOS 17 developer beta is already available for download for as many as 20 different models, and the company has confirmed the release of iOS 17 public beta by July.
