Apple has finally given its 24-inch iMac a much-needed upgrade. The company unveiled a new version of the all-in-one desktop computer at its “Scary Fast” event, featuring the powerful M3 chip that is twice as fast as the M1 chip.

The M3 chip is the star of the show, as it boasts an eight-core CPU, up to a 10-core GPU, and up to 24GB of RAM and 2TB of storage. This means that the new iMac can handle demanding tasks with ease, such as running multiple productivity apps, editing up to 12 streams of 4K video, or processing photos in Adobe Photoshop up to two times faster. The new iMac also supports Wi-Fi 6E, which offers faster and more reliable wireless connectivity.

The design of the 24-inch iMac remains unchanged, however. It still has the same thin profile, white bezels, and colorful options. You can choose from seven colours: green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver. The display is also the same 4.5K Retina display with a 1080p camera, speakers, and mics – as are the ports and the colour-matched accessories. So yes, the all-in-one still connects with a Lighting cable.

If you have been waiting for a faster iMac, this is your chance to get one. Apple skipped the M2 chip for the iMac, so this is the first time that the desktop computer gets the M3 chip. This could be a significant improvement for those who have been using the older Intel-based iMacs.

The new iMac starts at Rs 1,34,900 for the base model with an eight-core CPU and an eight-core GPU with 256GB of storage. You can also opt for a higher-end model with an eight-core CPU and a 10-core GPU with either 256GB or 512GB of storage for Rs 1,54.900 or Rs 1,74,900 respectively. You can preorder the new iMac today, and it will ship on November 7.
