Xiaomi Mi 5 has been spotted online in a series of new leaks, and a video.
Xiaomi Mi 5 has been spotted online in a video leak on Chinese social media site Weibo. Press release photos of the upcoming Xiaomi flagship have also been leaked on Weibo. The pictures of the Xiaomi Mi 5 can be seen here, while the video is accessible here.
The leaked pictures show the Mi 5 in gold, black, white and pink colour options with 2.5G curved glass display and a 3D glass panel on the back.
According to reports, Xiaomi Mi 5 will feature a 2K display, Snapdragon 820 SoC with a 16 megapixel rear camera and a 13 mp one on the front. It could come in 3GB and 4GB versions with 16 and 64GB storage space respectively.
Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to be priced at more than Rs 20,000 at launch. Mi 5 will run MIUI 7 based on Android 6 Marshmallow.
However, reports from China have also indicated that Samsung has an exclusive deal with Qualcomm for the Snapdragon 820 till April 2016, which means that no other smartphone maker can actually launch a phone running the chip till this contract is up. This is being touted as a reason for the delay of the Xiaomi Mi 5 launch.
Xiaomi Mi 5 launch was expected this year, but so far the Chinese start-up has not introduced new flagship in its Mi series.
