On Wednesday, Motorola introduced its most affordable smartphone with a 3D curved display, the Moto G85. With a starting price of Rs 17,999, the G85 will be available for purchase starting July 16 via Flipkart, motorola.in, and leading retail stores.

Curved displays, until last year, were only seen on high-end smartphones. However, in the last few years, many Android smartphone brands have introduced them on smartphones priced under Rs 20,000. Premium smartphones, on the other hand, are heading towards flat-panel displays.

Axis Bank credit and debit card users can get a flat Rs 1,000 discount on the G85, bringing down the effective price to Rs 16,999 on Flipkart, for the 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variant. There is also a 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage variant, which retails for Rs 19,999. The phone is available in Cobalt Blue, Olive Green, and Urban Grey colours with a vegan leather finish at the back.

The phone boasts a large 6.67-inch 3D curved pOLED screen with FHD+ resolution, along with an optical in-display fingerprint sensor. The smartphone is based on the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 SoC with 8/12 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of internal storage. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, features a 120Hz refresh rate, and has a peak-rated brightness of 1,600 nits.

The smartphone packs a 50 MP primary camera at the back based on the Sony LYTIA 600 sensor with quad-pixel binning technology, along with optical image stabilisation. There is also a 32 MP camera at the front, which also supports face unlock. A 5,000 mAh battery powers the device with support for 33W fast charging, and the charger is included in the box.

Other prominent features of the G85 include support for 13 5G bands, a microSD card slot for storage expansion, and a stereo speaker setup with support for Dolby Atmos.
