Lumia 950XL is the new big-screen smartphone from Microsoft which was announced along with the Microsoft 950 at a special event in New York yesterday.

So how does the new Microsoft Lumia 950 XL phablet compare with the competition such as Google Nexus 6P, Apple iPhones 6s Plus and the S6 edge plus? Below is a chart comparing the specs of the new Lumia 950 XL smartphone to its closest competitors.

Here’s a more detailed look at the Lumia 950 XL vs the other top-end smartphones.

Screen: Lumia 950 XL comes with a larger 5.7-inch display with WQHD OLED panels, Gorilla Glass 4. Microsoft says the display for both phones come with additional features like orientation sensor, Sunlight readability enhancements.

The S6 edge+ has a bigger 5.7-inch Super AMOLED QHD display as well with dual-edge screen. The iPhone 6s Plus has a 5.5-inch 1080 p display and comes with a new display technology called 3D Touch, which offers ‘Peek and Pop’ options with apps. The Nexus 6P super AMOLED screen with WQHD resolutuion with Gorilla Glass 4.

In terms of display, Microsoft Lumia 950 XL appears to be at par with its competitors and only the iPhone 6s Plus is still in the 1080 p range.

Storage options, Camera: Lumia 950 XL comes only in 32 GB option with 200 GB supported on microSD. In contrast, the Nexus 6P comes in 32, 64, and 128GB options, while the iPhone 6s Plus has 16, 64, 128 GB options. The S6 edge + comes in 32GB storage space option with no extra storage space option.

Lumia 950 XL packs a 20 megapixel camera with a 5 megapixel wide angle camera for the front. The Nexus 6P has a 12.3 mp rear camera and an 8 mp selfie camera, the iPhone 6s Plus has a 12 mp rear and 5 mp front camera. The S6 edge + has a 16 mp rear and 5 mp front camera.

While Lumia might appear to be ahead in terms of megapixels, it has a tough battle ahead in the camera space given that nearly all these phones have claimed to be top performers.

In our review of the S6 Edge +, we noted that its camera is really great. Google has claimed that the Nexus 6P camera is much better in low-light than the iPhone 6s Plus or the S6 edge+.

Pricing: Microsoft has not yet announced when and at what price the Lumia 950 XL will launch in India. The Lumia 950XL starts at $649 for 32GB storage variant which is around Rs 50,000.

The iPhone 6s Plus is expected to launch in India at a starting price of Rs 72,000 going all the way to 92,000. Samsung Galaxy S6 edge + is priced at Rs 55,750 while the Nexus 6P will launch in India at a price of Rs 39,999.
