On Tuesday, against the backdrop of the Indian Mobile Congress 2024, Reliance Industries Limited introduced two new affordable feature phones––JioBharat V3 and JioBharat V4––with smartphone-like features. These phones offer a suite of smart features including support for UPI payments, live content streaming on JioTV and JioCinema, along with support for additional internet services like JioPay, JioChat, and JioSaavn. Users can pair these smartphones with Jio's feature-phone exclusive Rs 123 recharge plan, which offers 28 days of validity with unlimited calling and half a GB of 4G data per day. There is support for over 23 Indian languages, and with access to JioTV, users can tune into over 455 live TV channels on the go and catch up on the latest movies and web series on JioCinema. Small business owners can use the JioBharat V3 and V4 like a UPI soundbox to get real-time UPI payment alerts, which would otherwise require dedicated hardware. Both JioBharat V3 and V4 are network-locked 4G devices with a digital camera at the back that can take pictures and can also be used to make UPI payments by scanning QR codes. Both smartphones look a lot different from the previous feature phones from the company, with a stylish design and an easy-to-replace 1,000 mAh battery.
