Asus claims 2.8 lakh Zenfones sold in India, brings in 1 lakh more for festivals

Taiwanese computer major Asus on Friday claimed it had sold 2.8 lakhs units of its new Zenfone smartphones in India in Q3. The company said an additional 1 lakh units would be made available for sale from October 17 across the country to keep up with festival demand.

In a release, Peter Chang, Regional Head – South Asia & Country Manager – System Business Group -ASUS India said: “With our aggressive approach and attainable aim to be amongst the top 10 smartphone providers this year and top 5 by 2015, we are constantly filling in the stocks. Within a fortnight, we have released stocks of 2 lakhs units now and the Indian masses continue to surprise us with the response. We wish to convey our best wishes to all our existing and prospective customers for this festive season and to reiterate of commitment towards delivering incredible this festive season.”

The companny claimed it was confident that with the online medium and extensive presence across India would enable it to complement the “incredible response” for their competitively priced smartphones.  Incindentally, the Zenfone is the first time Asus has ventured into the smartphone space. Powered by Intel processors, their phones are priced competitively in the entry and mid-segments.

At present there are four variants of the Zenfone Series in the Indian Market.
