No Man’s Sky Omega expedition goes free for a limited time: Here’s what you need to know

No Man’s Sky, the action-adventure survival game set in space that features trillions of planets recently released the Omega expedition update. In addition to the new content, the developers also made the title free to play for a limited time.

Since its launch in 2016, this is the first time Hello Games, the developer of No Man’s Sky has made the game temporarily free. The trial started on February 15, 11:30 PM and will last till February 19, 11:30 PM, so make sure you download the game before it ends.

No Man’s Sky trial is available on a multitude of platforms like the PlayStation, Steam, Microsoft Xbox, Mac and Nintendo Switch. However, the official website states that players will be able to join the Omega expedition irrespective of whether they have purchased it, but players won’t be able to play the rest of the story without buying the full game.

The No Man’s Sky Omega update brings co-op expeditions into the main game instead of treating it as a side mode. It also introduces some new content like new on-planet missions that are “specific to an alien lifeforms locale, climate and personality”, claimable pirate freighters and lets existing players continue from their save games.

No Man’s Sky was launched in 2016 as an action-adventure space game that lets players travel through endless space, visit planets of their choice and even build spaceships and bases wherever they want. As part of a “Special Promotion” that will last till February 26, it is available for purchase on Steam for Rs 1,200.
