Microsoft has released a big update for the Xbox app on Windows 11 and handhelds, which makes it easier to launch and manage all your installed games from a single place.
In a blog post, Microsoft said that after hearing user feedback from Xbox Insiders and its community, they are bringing a bunch of new features like an aggregated gaming library, cross-device play history and an updated app which gives you more control “over how and where you play, helping you quickly jump back into the games you love.”
Talking about the Xbox app, the gaming giant says the updated app brings “your game collection together with the new aggregated gaming library that shows your installed games from multiple PC storefronts, including your Xbox library, Xbox Game Pass, Battle.net and other loading PC storefronts.”
In case you are wondering, the other storefronts include Steam, Epic Games Launcher, GOG and others. What it means is that when you install a game from any of the supported storefronts, it will automatically appear in the “My Library” section and “Most Recent” list of the Xbox PC app, allowing you to jump into the game with a single click.
If you prefer a “more simplified view”, tap on your profile picture, head over to Settings, go to “Library & Extensions”, select any of the listed storefronts, and hide the listings you don’t want to see.
Microsoft has also introduced a new “My apps” tab, which lets you quickly launch other storefronts so you can easily purchase a game from outside of the Microsoft Store. This feature can be really handy for handheld users, who will no longer have to launch separate apps on their small displays.
Later this month, the gaming giant says all your”cloud-playable games and gameplay history will follow you across all your devices,” meaning you will be able to stop playing on your PC and continue where you left off on your handheld.
