Apple event 2018 highlights: iPad Pro 2018 gets A12 X Bionic chip, MacBook Air and Mac mini revealed

Apple's 11-inch iPad Pro will start at $799. The iPad Pro with 12.9-inches will start at $999. The new iPad Pro will also go on sale from November 7. It will be up for pre-orders from today. The new iPad Pro will come in 64GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage options. 

Apple Pencil 2 attaches magnetically to the iPad. It automatically charges when it is connected to the iPad. Tapping twice on the Apple Pencil 2 will just switch modes. Apple is also adding a new Smart Keyboard Folio. Magnetically attaches to the iPad Pro. 

The iPad Pro gets USB Type C connectivity, allowing users to connect 5K monitors. Users can connect data accessories. They also support charging out on the USB-C. So you can charge your iPhone from the iPad.  

Yes, Face ID is coming to the iPad Pro. For the first time Apple is introducing Face ID to iPads. Apple is adding the TrueDepth camera to the iPad Pro. Apple iPad Pro's Face ID will work in Portrait and Landscape mode. There's no Home button. All gestures from iPhone X come to the iPad. Apple iPad Pro is powered by A12 X Bionic. Apple is calling it a huge jump in efficiency. The new A12 X has more than 12 billion transistors. It is an eight-core CPU. 

Apple has a new iPad Pro for 2018. And there's no Touch ID. It has a display with reduced bezels. There's no notch though. The Apple Pencil now sticks to the body of the iPad. The new iPad has an 11-inch display. The all new iPad Pro. It marks the biggest change in the iPad history.

The new iPad Pro has an edge-to-edge display. Apple is calling the “liquid retina”. The iPad Pro comes in two screen sizes: 11inch and 12.9. The 11inch iPad Pro has the same footprint as the 10.5-inch one.  

Apple CEO Tim Cook back on stage. And he's talking about the iPad. Apple sold more iPads last year than the entire lineup of the most popular notebooks. Cook says this makes iPad the most popular computer in the world. Apple has sold over 400 million iPads till date, making it the most popular tablet in the world. Last year, apple sold 44.2 million iPads.

Apple is expanding its retail presence in the world. The company recently opened a number of new stores in Seattle, Bangkok, etc, 

Apple Mac Mini is the new desktop from the company which starts at $799. It comes with a more powerful performance, new Intel 8th generation processor, up to 64GB RAM and 2TB storage. Apple's Mac Mini also comes with a newer thermal cooling feature. The new Mac Mini will go on sale from November 7, like the new MacBook Air. 

Angela Ahrendts,Apple's Senior Vice President of Retail, takes stage. She’s talking about the Today at Apple initiative. She says the company has taken a lot of initiatives to empower people around the world.  

Apple is announcing 60 new sessions that help users create AR apps. A new design lap has been introduced to further scale the Today at Apple initiative. 

Both new devices go on sale from November 7. No word on when these devices are coming to India. Overall Mac Mini is now much more powerful. The MacBook Air looks more stunning and has more features and power. 

The entity level Mac Mini comes with 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD drive and 3.6GHz quad-core Core i3 processor. Apple's Mac Mini will start at $799. 

Apple's Mac Mini will go up to 64GB storage. Every Mac Mini will come with SSDs. Capacity offered is up to 2TB. 

The biggest update to Mac Mini is here. Apple is calling a “beast”.  Every Mac Mini starts with four cores. Mac Mini will also have six core processors. 8th generation processors with 60 per cent faster graphics. Five times faster than before, claims Apple. 

Yes, the Mac Mini for 2018 is real. And Apple has officially revealed it. 

Apple says it’s the greenest MacBook ever. Price starts at $1199. It will go on sale from November 7, though it will be up for pre-orders in the US today.  

In addition, every MacBook Air is made from 100 per cent recycled aluminium. That's a big deal. Apple says it will reduce the carbon footprint by 50 per cent. Apple made a new alloy, which allowed them to use recycled aluminium in order to make this notebook. 

It has 8th gen intel core processor, up to 1.5TD SSD storage. It will support up to 16GB of RAM. It comes with up to 13 hours of battery life, which is better than the previous MacBook Air. New MacBook has 17 per cent less volume than the original. It is just 15.6mm in thickness. It weighs 2.75 pounds, which is 1.2 kgs.   

The Air has 25 per cent louder speakers and comes with two thunderbolt ports. Like the MacBook Pro and MacBook, it also does away with the MagSafe charger. 

Apple's new MacBook Air also gets the latest 3rd generation keyboard, and Force Touch trackpad. The keyboard is back-lit with individual LEDs behind each key. The Force Touch trackpad has 20 per cent more area. 

MacBook Air is getting Retina Display. The all-new MacBook Air for 2018. And yes it has all Thunderbolt 3.0 ports on the sides. 

Cook says the MacBook Air has changed the industry. The Air truly redefined the notebook category. It’s time for a new MacBook Air. He talks about the time Steve Jobs pulled it out of a envelope when he showcased it first, nearly 10 years back. "MacBook Air has become the most beloved Notebook ever," says Tim Cook. "It's time for a new MacBook Air." 

Mac continues to attract new customers, says Cook. Over 100 million active installed base for Macs, reveals Apple CEO.

So this time the event is taking place at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Howard Gilman Opera House. Most Apple events take place in Cupertino, California, but there's a change of venue this time around. The presentation is scheduled to begin in half an hour, so hang in there. 

Apple has never failed to surprise us and this time we are hoping for nothing less. Word on the street is that Apple will show off the new MacBook Air 2 at a cheaper price point. The current generation model was a great seller in the market and we are quite excited to see the arrival of the MacBook Air 2 in the market.

Apple is said to announce a slew of new products today. Of course, we are expected to see two new iPad Pros with Face ID, magnetic accessory charging, USB-C port and no home button, alongside new iterations of the Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil. Apple is also expected to debut a new Retina MacBook Air, a professionally inclined Mac Mini, and updates to 12-inch MacBook and iMac.
