OpenAI launches ‘Grove’ programme to mentor AI Entrepreneurs

Participants will get the chance to interact with new OpenAI tools and models before they are made publicly available, in addition to receiving technical help and community support.

OpenAI, on September 12, introduced a new mentorship programme called the “OpenAI Grove” –– a platform to help young entrepreneurs looking to build applications with the assistance of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The OpenAI headquarters will offer five weeks of programming and material, including weekly office hours, in-person seminars, and guidance from OpenAI technical experts. Participants will get the chance to interact with new OpenAI tools and models before they are made publicly available, in addition to receiving technical help and community support. Participants will have the option to look into and explore raising capital or pursue another avenue, either inside or outside of OpenAI.

OpenAI has had a mentorship programme called the “Pioneer Program,” which was initiated in April this year. This was built for budding entrepreneurs to help with their pre-ideas before the execution stage.

Grove’s first group will begin their session on October 20, and it will last until November 21, with about 15 participants in the programme. Those who wish to apply should submit their application forms by September 24.

Participants in the programme will have the opportunity to continue working internally with the recently valued $500 billion ChatGPT manufacturer when the programme concludes.

Meanwhile, Google had also initiated the Startups Cloud AI Accelerator last year. Microsoft for Startups partnered up with PearlX for a beginner’s accelerator programme for pre-seed businesses, this April.

Supporting these new AI firms is just a small portion of the massive investments in AI companies that have recently been made. According to a J P Morgan study, in 2025, AI companies accounted for 71 per cent of United States venture funding, up from 45 per cent the previous year.
