The tech giant is also adding a bunch of new carousels that offer suggestions for what you can do with the AI-powered chatbot.
In a blog post, Yusuf Mehdi, the company’s chief marketing officer said that the updated Copilot app for Android and iOS now has a more streamlined look and feel. It looks like the newly added carousels are placed just above the text, voice and image bar and show new ideas each time you open the app.
With Copilot turning a year old, Mehdi shared that the AI-powered chatbot has generated ‘over 5 billion chats and 5 billion images’, which helped Edge and Bing grow steadily.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Microsoft’s Head of Engineering and Product for Copilot and Bing Jordi Ribas said that Copilot’s ‘Balanced’ mode is now powered by a fine-tuned model called Deucalion, which makes the overall experience “richer and faster”

As for the new features, Designer for Copilot, which is powered by DALL-E 3 can now not only generate images but also help edit them. Users can now highlight an object to make it pop, add background blur and even change the art style to something like pixel art. For Copilot Pro subscribers, the tech giant has added the ability to resize and regenerate images for square and landscape modes without having to leave the chat.
The image editing features are currently available for English speakers who live in Australia, India, New Zealand, the U.S. and the U.K.
Microsoft is also rolling out a new Designer GPT for Copilot, which according to the tech giant “offers an immersive, dedicated canvas inside of Copilot where you can visualize your ideas.” Copilot Pro is a premium plan that costs $20 per month.
