Nottingham Forest appoint Sean Dyche as new manager until 2027

Premier League side Nottingham Forest confirmed the appointment of Sean Dyche as their new manager on Tuesday. The Englishman replaces Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked after a mere 39 days in the job, owing to a poor run of results that saw him draw two and lose six matches, after succeeding Nuno Espirito Santo in September.

Dyche comes into the job with a wealth of experience, having managed at clubs like Everton and Burnley – the latter for a decade – and will be in charge of Forest’s Europa League fixture against Porto at home on Thursday. His contract with the club will run until the summer of 2027.

One of the other managers in contention for the role included Roberto Mancini, who won the league with Manchester City in 2012 and later guided Italy to the European Championships in 2021.

“A respected and experienced Premier League manager, Dyche brings the perfect blend of character, tactical acumen and proven achievement to guide the club through its next chapter”.

“As a former Forest youth player who lives locally, Dyche also has a deep understanding of the values and pride of Forest and its supporters. His appointment represents the best opportunity for a successful and competitive season across both domestic and European competitions,” the club said in a statement.

After qualifying for Europe at the end of the 2024-25 season, Forest have endured a difficult start to this season, with only one win in eight matches. They had finished seventh on the points table last season with 65 points in 38 matches to ensure qualification into the Europa League, along with Aston Villa who had finished sixth on the table.

Dyche last managed Everton between January 2023 – 2025 before he was sacked by the club and replaced by former boss David Moyes.
