Lionel Messi announced his retirment after a loss in final in Copa America against Chile. Messi has had a great run while donning Argentina jersey. He scored 55 goals for his side. Here are some of Messi’s top performances from his international career.

2006 World cup debut match

In the match against Serbia and Montenegro, Messi became the youngest player to represent Argentina at a World Cup when he came on as a substitute in the 74th minute. He scored the final goal in Argentina’s 6–0 win, making him the youngest scorer in the tournament.

Beijing Olympics 2008

Argentina dfeated Nigeria 1-0 in the Olympic football final. Messi’s participation in the Beijing 2008 Olympic football championship was earlier threatened but the young boy played a pivotal role in his team’s triumph while assisting a goal from Angel di Maria.
