With Lionel Messi leaving Paris Saint Germain after helping them secure the French league, his now former teammate Neymar sent a farewell message to the Argentine magician.

“Brother… it didn’t turn out as we thought but we tried everything. It was a pleasure to share 2 more years with you. Good luck in your new stage and be happy. I love you ❤️ #leomessi,” Neymar wrote on Twitter.

Messi was booed by the PSG supporters when the Argentine’s name was announced for one last time at the Parc des Princes on Saturday in his final game against Clermont. He was again whistled when he missed a chance in the second half with the scores level at 2-2.

PSG fans have jeered Messi in the past couple of months as his form dipped after he helped Argentina win the World Cup.

However, Messi did walked onto the field with a smile on his face, along with his three sons.

Clermont earned a 3-2 win over the hosts at the Parc des Princes on the final day of the season.

“I would like to thank the club, the city of Paris and its people for these two years. I wish you all the best for the future,” Messi told the club website.

Meanwhile, Neymar’s future at the French capital is also up in the air as rumour has it that he is set to leave PSG this summer.
