Sandakan picked up the ball after it had crashed into the non-striker’s stumps and uprooted the stumps – but forgot to touch the stumps with the ball.
Fans were left laughing at the mistake committed by Sandakan. “Nobody told Sandakan that current out is only valid in gully cricket!” – read one comment. Even Sandakan was seen laughing at his mistake before the next delivery.
The incident happened in the 13th over of the Australian innings, by which time the match had effectively been decided.

David Warner and Smith both smashed half-centuries as Australia hammered Sri Lanka by nine wickets to win the second T20I to clinch the series.
Chasing a paltry target of 118 after Sri Lanka were restricted to 117, Warner and Smith came together after Aaron Finch departed for a golden duck. Warner was unbeaten on 60 and Smith not out 53 as Australia romped home with 7 overs to spare.
