Shubman Gill finally won his first toss as India Test skipper on his 7th try in the 2nd Test against West Indies in New Delhi on Friday. In the last 6 matches, starting from the England tour to the 1st Test vs West Indies, Gill didn't have the best of lucks in coin tosses, losing all of them. That streak finally came to an end on Friday and the captain and his team shared some banter about it after the toss. As Gill walked back towards his team, he was greeted by Axar Patel and coach Gautam Gambhir and had a hearty laugh about finally winning a toss. "Well done Gill," some one shouted while Gambhir laughed and said,"Jassi (Bumrah) had already marked his run up," to which Bumrah said, "Me and Miyan (Siraj), both" as the banter continued, as shared by a video by BCCI "Out of the 7 Test matches, we have got what we wanted from 4, right? We wanted to bowl in the previous match, we got to bowl. Now, batting in this one. Toss does not matter. We will get what we want," Gill said smiling at Bumrah and Siraj while walking towards the dressing room. India retained the same playing XI that had defeated the Roston Chase-led West Indies by an innings and 140 runs in the first Test at Ahmedabad. Gill said India would like to put on a big total as the wicket looks conducive for batting. West Indies made two changes, bringing in Tevin Imlach and Anderson Phillip in place of Brandon King and Johann Layne. "(The) wicket looks good, we want to pile on the runs. Consistency is key, to repeat performances and maintain performances. Captaincy hasn't changed me much, more responsibilities now, I like that. Very exciting future for me," said Gill at the toss.
