Australia's Scott Boland celebrates taking the wicket of England's Jonny Bairstow (Source: Reuters) Australia pacer Scott Boland is optimistic of Australia’s chances in the upcoming ‘big winter’ of Test cricket during the English summer. The 34-year-old, who made his Test debut during Ashes 2021 is preparing for another five-Test series against England and the one-off World Test Championship final.
“Over the last two years we’ve played such good cricket and finished on top of the World Test Championship. It’s a big game that could hopefully kick-start a big winter for us,” Boland was quoted by The Sydney Morning Herald.
Speaking on his time with the national team, the quick added, “I’ve played seven games and still think I’m going to get better. I’m pretty keen to test my skills in England. It’s somewhere very different. I was lucky enough to play in India. Even though conditions didn’t really suit me, I felt I went alright for the game I played.”
Boland has 28 wickest in 7 Tests for Australia so far at an incredible average of 13.4.
The Victoria pacer also shared his thoughts on the recent reports of the England captain Ben Stokes requesting ‘fast, flat wickets’ for the upcoming Ashes series to help the Bazball style of cricket.
“Have you ever seen a fast wicket in England? I don’t know if they can [prepare one],” Starc said. “They can certainly make them flat. I’m not sure if they can make them fast. I think it’s a bit of a smokescreen,” Boland said.
“I’m sure our batters are going to be licking their lips if they rock up to England and there are flat pitches,” he added.
