Looks quite heavy: Rohit Sharma’s tryst with the NBA trophy ahead of T20 World Cup warm-up match against Bangladesh

"My favourite has always been Michael Jordan. What he did for the Chicago Bulls is obviously quite inspiring. And guys like LeBron James, Steph Curry. Those are the guys I love watching them play," Rohit said when asked who he thinks of when he looks at the NBA trophy.

India skipper Rohit Sharma had a tryst with the NBA trophy, commonly known as the The Larry O’Brien Trophy, on the pitch at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York where India will play their warm-up match against Bangladesh on Saturday.

“My favourite has always been Michael Jordan. What he did for the Chicago Bulls is obviously quite inspiring. And guys like LeBron James, Steph Curry. Those are the guys I love watching them play,” Rohit said when asked who he thinks of when he looks at the NBA trophy.

“Oh, it looks quite heavy. No wonder they (basketball players) are so tall and strong and big,” he added.

Earlier, Rohit said the team will be looking to acclimatize quickly in New York, when they will face Bangladesh at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. India will start their campaign against Ireland on June 5.

“We’re looking to understand the conditions more importantly (before the tournament proper) as we haven’t been here before,” Rohit told ICC.

“(We will) try and make the most of the conditions, get used to what it’s going to be like on June 5 when we play our first game.

“It’s just about getting into that rhythm of getting the feel of the ground, pitch and stuff like that,” he said.

Talking about the newly-constructed stadium in New York, the Indian captain said: “It looks beautiful. It’s quite an open ground. When we come here and play our first game, I just can’t wait to feel the atmosphere in the stadium,” he said.

“It’s a decent capacity as well. Hopefully, it’s gonna be a good one.” Rohit hoped that fans will throng the venue for their matches.
