Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are on the lookout for new backroom staff after deciding that they won’t continue with Director of Cricket Mike Hesson and coach Sanjay Bangar in the next Indian Premier League season.
The Indian Express understands that the franchise, which is yet to win an IPL title, is searching for fresh coaches but it’s not clear whether they will continue with current bowling coach Adam Griffith.
Hesson and Bangar are said to have great camaraderie with RCB icon Virat Kohli, and had been in their respective positions for five years.
However, the franchise is now keen to have someone who can bring in new ideas as they search for their maiden IPL title. The team couldn’t even make the playoffs in the 2023 edition, leaving their vast army of fans and followers despondent.
It’s not clear whether RCB will go for a foreign head coach or hire an Indian to be at the helm of affairs.
Other teams have already started giving shape to their coaching set-up. Lucknow Super Giants have appointed former Australia opener and coach Justin Langer as their head coach, replacing Andy Flower.
Flower, a former Zimbabwe captain, is already in talks with other franchises and could stay in the IPL at the helm of another team.
