Nicholas Pooran displays his injuries in a social media post, the southpaw in action during the fifth T20I. (Twitter/AP) Nicholas Pooran would close the five-match T20I series against India as the leading run scorer as the West Indies won by eight wickets in the final game and registered a 3-2 win.
It marked a first bilateral series win for the Windies against India since 2016.
Scoring 47 off 35 deliveries on Sunday, Pooran received the player of the series award, and even had the war marks to show for his most recent innings.
Taking to his social media, the southpaw would post an image of the bruises he picked off an Arshdeep Singh delivery that hit him in the abdomen and a Brandon King shot that hit his left forearm as he stood at the non-striker’s end.
“The after effects thank you brandon king and arsdeep,” Pooran wrote as caption for the image.
Since his century for the Mumbai Indians New York in the 2023 Major League Cricket final, Pooran has been in sensational form and his knock on Sunday was in queue with the same.
Adding 107 runs for the second wicket, Pooran helped guide the Windies to an eight wicket win in Lauderhill, Florida with two overs to spare.
