A peculiar mistaken identity case by CEOWORLD magazine led to former Australia World Cup winning keeper batter Adam Gilchrist being termed as the richest cricketer in the world in 2023 with an estimated net worth of $380m ahead of Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.

Gilchrist was mistaken for his namesake, the founder of the Australian-based global fitness empire F45.

The 51-year-old took to his Twitter account and pointed out the mistake made by the magazine. “A case of mistaken identity here folks. Unless of course my namesake who founded F45 played cricket, in which case it’s completely accurate 😂” he captioned the Tweet.

According to the list barring the Gilchrist error, five of the remaining nine cricketers are Indians. Sachin Tendulkar ($170M) tops the list followed by MS Dhoni ($115m) and Virat Kohli ($112m). Former Indian superstars Virender Sehwag ($40m) and Yuvraj Singh ($35m) are also in the last.

West Indian legend Brain Lara ($60m) and South Africa’s Jacques Kallis ($70m) are also in the richest cricketer club per the magazine.
