The Indian team, led by Smriti Mandhana, thus takes a 1-0 lead over Gaby Lewis’ Ireland after winning the first of the three-match ODI series on Friday.
India were chasing a target of 239 runs, after Ireland batted first and captain Gaby Lewis was their top scorer with 92 runs. Leah Paul chipped in with 59 runs. For India, Priya Mishra claimed two wickets. Titas Sadhu and Deepti Sharma chipped in with a wicket each.
While chasing, Pratika Rawal scored 89 in a player of the match performance while captain Smriti Mandhana scored 41 runs. After both those players had departed, it was an unbeaten 53 off 46 balls from Tejal Hasabnis which saw India home with 93 balls to sparce.

Earlier, India had swept the West Indies 3-0 in the ODI series, following a 2-1 triumph in the T20 series.
The Irish team on the other hand boasts of some quality all-rounders, with Prendergast likely to be a key player. Having gained experience in Australia and the WBBL, she will look to bring that to the fore as Ireland takes on the formidable India at home.
