India Test Squad vs West Indies Series 2025: The Ajit Agarkar-led senior selection committee has brought back Devdutt Padikkal and Nitish Reddy in the squad for the two-Test series against the West Indies. Meanwhile, Karun Nair has been dropped after a underwhelming series against England. Also missing from the 15-member India squad were Sarfaraz Khan, and Manav Suthar. Another highlight of Agarkar’s press conference is that Ravindra Jadeja has been named as the vice-captain of the team with Shubman Gill in charge. Jasprit Bumrah too will be in the team.

The Chairman of Selectors, Agarkar, had some strong words for Nair at the press conference. “We expected more from Karun Nair. Can’t be just one innings. Padikkal offers more,” Agarkar said.

Shubman Gill (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Ravindra Jadeja (VC), Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Prasidh Krishna, Axar Patel and N. Jagadeesan.

There was a debate around Nair’s spot in the side after the 33-year-old was handed a comeback to the Test team after a gap of nearly seven years in England. But in the four Tests he played, Nair crossed the 50-run milestone just once: in the final match at The Oval. He got starts in other matches but couldn’t convert them into big ones.

The two Tests will be played in Ahmedabad and Delhi, in the series that starts from October 2.

India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is set to miss their two-match Test series against the West Indies, which starts on October 2. Pant is still recovering from a fractured left foot, which he had suffered during India’s fourth Test against England in July this year in Manchester. Dhruv Jurel will be keeping wickets in his place.

The first Test will be played in Ahmedabad, followed by the second in New Delhi.

Pant had been advised six weeks’ rest after suffering the blow from a delivery from fast bowler Chris Woakes while batting on Day 1 of the fourth Test of the rather epic tour which ended in a 2-2 draw. The Old Trafford Test itself was drawn and Pant had gone off retired hurt but then returned to bat the next day. He ended up scoring 54 runs in 75 balls before falling to Jofra Archer. Pant returned home after the match.
