Asia Cup 2023: As match called off on Sunday, what’s in store for IND vs PAK on reserve day?

Due to the match getting called off on Sunday, India will resume from where they left off i.e. from 147/2 after 24.1 overs and each side will have 50 overs to play with on the reserve day.

The India vs Pakistan Asia Cup match on Sunday was halted once again due to rain and was ultimately called off which means that the match will continue on the reserve day i.e on Monday.

India were 147 for two in 24.1 overs when rain lashed the Premadasa Stadium. Virat Kohli and K L Rahul were batting on 8 and 17 respectively after openers Rohit Sharma (56) and Shubman Gill (58) struck fine half-centuries. India’s Asia Cup opener against Pakistan was called off due to rain.

The organisers had added a reserve day for this India-Pakistan clash in case the match couldn’t be completed on Sunday.

So what will be the conditions under which the match will begin on the reserve day?

As per officials, Chris Gaffaney and Ruchira Palliyaguruge, if the match was not possible on Sunday, India will resume from where they left off i.e. from 147/2 after 24.1 overs and each side will have 50 overs to play with.

Earlier, Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and opted to bowl first against India.

Pakistan are playing an unchanged side while India made two changes to the playing XI.

In a forced change, batter KL Rahul returned to the Indian team after a long injury layoff in place of Shreyas Iyer, who is down with back spasm, while Jasprit Bumrah is back to lead the pace attack. He replaced Mohammed Shami.
