A FEW hours after Virat Kohli posted his yo-yo test score on social media, the Indian team management asked its players to ‘avoid’ putting their fitness scores in the public domain. The message, it is learnt, came from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) bosses, who didn’t like their star player letting out what it considers confidential information.

The Indian Express understands that all players who are undergoing the preparatory camp at Alur in Bangalore have been advised ‘verbally’ about the board’s view.

“The happiness of finishing the Yo Yo test between the dreaded cones. 17.2 don.,” Kohli had posted on Instagram earlier on Thursday,

However, the post didn’t amuse the board officials.

“Players have been informed verbally to avoid posting any confidential matter on social media platforms. They can post pictures while training but posting a score leads to breach of contract clause,” a BCCI official confirmed.

The Indian team management is conducting a six-day conditioning camp which began on Thursday. Day one saw players undergoing a yo-yo test to assess where each one of them stands in terms of fitness.

But as they are playing non-stop cricket, the yo-yo score can vary. The team management has asked players to at least adhere to the fitness parameters that have been decided.

Ahead of the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, players who were given a 13-day fitness programme will undergo a complete body test, including blood test. Trainers will test their fitness and those who don’t meet standards will be pulled up as the BCCI does not want to take a chance with the World Cup round the corner.

Players who returned from the West Indies and didn’t go for the three-match T20I series in Ireland were asked to follow the 13-day programme. They included captain Rohit Sharma, Kohli, all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja, as well as fast bowlers Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj.

The fitness programme, divided into two parts with a rest day in between, was to be followed from August 9-22. It was designed to keep every player in the best possible shape for the World Cup and aimed at preventing an injury that could derail the Indian campaign.
