Afghanistan vs New Zealand Highlights, Day 3 Test Match Today: The Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground had hoped to salvage some pride on Wednesday after the first two days of the one-off Test between New Zealand and Afghanistan were cancelled due to the outfield not meeting international standard.
However, persistent rain and overnight showers resulted in an early washout on Day 3 without the toss being held for another day.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board, which is the home team in this match, was offered stadiums in Kanpur and Bengaluru for this Test but they chose the one in Greater Noida due to logistical reasons. “It was a two-hour drive from Delhi airport,” ACB’s international cricket manager Menhajuddin Raz said.
Even as the outfield looks less than promising heading into the third day, both teams will be looking to get some match time in with New Zealand especially keen due to their long stay in the subcontinent where they play back to back Tests against Sri Lanka in September and then India in October.

Afghanistan vs New Zealand Live Score, Day 3: Arun Dhumal on ACB's choice
“It was up to them. They wanted Kanpur, but we are hosting a Test match there, so that was not possible. Bengaluru was not logistically feasible for the ACB. We have two stadiums in Mohali as well, but again logistics was the issue. They had to take another flight to Chandigarh. For them, playing in Delhi- NCR was more suitable and since they had played at the venue before as well, the ACB opted to play at the Greater Noida Sports Complex,” former BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal told The Indian Express.
