In a heartwarming act, groundsmen at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, in Bengaluru revealed the name of Suryakumar Yadav, who pipped Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul to win the ‘Fielder of the Match’ award after India beat the Netherlands on Sunday.

Suryakumar received the medal from left-arm throwdown specialist coach Nuwan Seneviratne and India fielding coach T Dilip appreciated the Sri Lankan’s contribution.

“Tirelessly working behind the stumps playing dual roles. But especially in the fielding, he has been my right shoulder, my everything,” said Dilip.

Suryakumar also expressed satisfaction on his performance and thanked fielding coach T Dilip for working with him behind the scenes for one year.

“He (Dilip) has been behind me for one year; finally, I think this is the reward,” said the 33-year-old.

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer and Lokesh Rahul scored attacking hundreds to help India win nine in nine games with a 160-run victory over the Netherlands in the final group-stage match at the Cricket World Cup on Sunday.

India posted a total of 410/4, the fifth-highest World Cup total.

India advanced to the semifinals with a perfect 18 points from nine wins.

It will play fourth-place New Zealand in the first semifinal at Mumbai on Wednesday.
