Satwik-Chirag vs Chia-Soh Singapore Open Badminton Semifinal 2025 Highlights: Star Indian men's doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankiredddy and Chirag Shetty went down in three games against world No. 3 duo of Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in the semi-final at the Singapore Open Super 750 on Saturday. From 11-20 down, Satwik-Chirag saved 7 match points to close the gap down to 18-20 but the Malaysian duo held on to convert their 8th match point. After making light work of the world No. 1 pair Malaysia's Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin, 21-17, 21-15 in just 39 minutes in the 2025 Singapore Open Super 750 quarter-final, the Indians couldn't sustain the momentum, especially this being their first tournament back from an injury break while Chia-Soh are on red-hot form with now three straight finals in three weeks. Satwik-Chirag, who have now slid down to world No 27 after having to miss tournaments due to injury concerns, were the last standing Indian contenders in Singapore this week. Chia and Soh are familiar opponents for the Indians, having met them 12 times in the past and won thrice. The Malaysians were once 8-0 on the Head-to-Head but after that SatChi won three in a row, including the Asian Games semifinal and Indonesia Open final famously. But in their last meeting, Chia-Soh broke Indian hearts at the quarterfinals in the Olympics. And once more Chia-Soh produced a stirring fightback to beat SatChi in three games. Earlier on Friday they outplayed the Malaysian new world No 1s Goh-Izzuddin. Before that, they had entered the last eight with a come-from-behind win in their second round match on Thursday. Satwik and Chirag rallied to beat seventh-seeded Indonesian pair of Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani 19-21 21-16 21-19 in a gruelling contest that lasted one hour and 14 minutes.
