India at Asian Games 2023, Day 5 schedule: Shooters eye more medals; Sunil Chhetri & co take on Saudi Arabia

Here are the main events to track on Day 5 of the Asian Games (Thursday)

On Day 4, the shooters made it a memorable outing for the Indian contingent. On Day 5, there are more shooting medals at stake. And some of the gold medallists from the historic Dressage gold-winning team will be back in their individual events, looking to add to their tally. Sunil Chhetri and Co will be looking to make a mark as well against Saudi Arabia.

Shooting: More pistol action

The benchmark has been set high by the Indian shooting contingent and it will now be up to the 10m air pistol men’s team of Sarabjot Singh, Sarabjot Singh, Shiva Narwal, Arjun Singh Cheema will try and add to the tally. Skeet mixed team event is also one to keep an eye out on, featuring Anantjeet Singh Naruka, who won silver in the men’s individual.

Wushu sanda: Roshibina Devi (Around 7 am)

Roshibina Devi Naorem won her semifinal on Wednesday to guarantee herself an upgrade from the bronze medal in 2018. She will contest the gold medal match against China’s Wu Xiaowei

Football: Saudi test for Sunil & Co (5:00 pm)

By all accounts, the men’s football team have already managed to at least meet the expectations they would have had in the circumstances in which they travelled to Hangzhou. In the round of 16, Sunil Chhetri and Co have a tough test coming up against Saudi Arabia and would be hoping to give a good account of themselves.

Tennis: Men’s doubles semifinal (After 11:30 am)

It’s not exactly been a memorable campaign for the tennis contingent but R Ramkumar and Saketh Myneni have assured themselves a medal and will hope to go one step further into the final in men’s doubles.

Here a brief schedule of the main Indian events to track on Tuesday in Hangzhou:

Equestrian: Dressage individual, Intermediate I Freestyle with Anush Agarwalla and Hriday Vipul Chheda in medal contention (12:00 pm onwards)

Shooting: Men’s 10m air pistol (Individual & Team) – Sarabjot Singh, Shiva Narwal, Arjun Singh Cheema (6:30 am); Skeet mixed team – Anantjeet Singh Naruka/Ganemat Sekhon (6:30 am)

Tennis: Men’s doubles semifinal, Ramkumar / Saketh (after 11:30 am), Mixed doubles quarterfinal, Rohan/Rutuja, (around 12:30 pm)

Badminton: Women’s team event, India vs Mongolia (6:30 am)

Artistic Gymnastics, Women’s vault final: Pranati Nayak (After 12:00 pm)

Wushu, Sanda women’s 60kg: Roshibina Devi Naorem’s gold medal match (6:30 am)

Swimming (Round 1 to finals): Virdhawal Khade, Shivanga Sarma, Relay teams (7:30 am), Aryan Nehra and Kushagra Rawat (800m medal race, 5:46 pm)
