Highlighting the plight of the weavers’ community, the RJD on Friday said that Bihar government had failed to bail out the regional handloom cooperative union building at Biharsharif, which went under the hammer.
RJD spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed Khan told reporters here that the building located in the Chief Minister’s home district went under the hammer at an auction at a price of Rs 18 lakh for an accumulated loan and other payments worth Rs 3.7 lakh.
The property,he alleged, was purchased at a throwaway price by a person reportedly related to the Chief Minister.
“Kumar himself managed the purchase of the weavers’ building by his relative,” the RJD leader alleged.
About 50 lakh weavers of 11 districts have been rendered jobless as they will no more be able to purchase yarn and sell their handloom products at the building,Khan said.
Referring to the Chief Minister attending a Pasmanda Muslim Adhikar Sammelan in the state capital on Thursday,Khan expressed confidence that the ” minority community will no more be fooled by his symbolic gestures” .
