Reports about Joshi being heckled at PAC meeting false: Nirupam

Joshi had sent the draft report to Speaker Meira Kumar on April 30.

Congress MP Sanjay Nirupam took strong exception to reports about PAC chairman Murli Manohar Joshi being heckled by Congress members at today’s meeting of the parliamentary panel, calling them false.

“This is completely false,” Nirupam, who is a member of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) said on reports that Joshi was heckled and not allowed to speak by Congress members.

He claimed that in fact Joshi himself lost his temper at times and reprimanded a member on one ocassion during the meeting which debated the circulation of the 2G spectrum draft report of the PAC among its members.

Joshi had sent the draft report to Speaker Meira Kumar on April 30,the last day of the previous PAC.

Kumar had returned the “draft report” to Joshi saying it was not read and adopted by the Committee.

“It is the responsibility of Joshi to ensure a consensus as no PAC report can be presented to the Parliament without unanimity among members,” Nirupam said.

A fresh attempt by Joshi to rake up his report on 2G spectrum scam for adoption by Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) was today rebuffed by Congress members.
