BJP leader Kalraj Mishra hit out at Union Home Minister P Chidambaram for his description of saffron terrorism as a threat to internal security and charged him with casting aspersion on the Indian ethos of which the saffron colour has been a symbol.
“Chidambaram has sought to give terrorism a religious colour by identifying the saffron terror as a menace to internal security and has insulted the age-old Indian ethos of which the saffron colour has been a symbol”,he told reporters here.
The Home Minister should have come up with clinching evidence before making a sweeping remark about the saffron terror and implicate the faithfuls for which the saffron colour has been a religious symbol since ages,Mishra,a senior BJP National Vice-President said.
Chidambaram should be respectful to the national flag – the tricolour – which depicts among others the saffron colour to showcase Indian’s rich cultural traditions, the BJP leader said and demanded apology from the former. Stating that the terrorism or the people associated with such activities has no no colour or religion,Mishra urged the centre to take appropriate action in this regard instead of pursuing divisive politics by giving religious colour to the menace.
The senior BJP leader further questioned the intention of the centre in harping on the saffron terror now when the country has been dogged by the terrorism for past three decades in which the people behind it and their objectives have been well documented.
