STATE Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa on Wednesday said that May 16 – counting day – would mark the end of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s tenure. “Here is a person who had sought votes to establish a pro-people government on the pattern of the only Sikh ruler, Maharaja Ranjit Singh. In practice, however, it has proved to be diametrically opposite over the past seven years. The ruling clan will be consigned to the dustbin of history the day results are announced,” he said.

In a statement issued here, Bajwa said said the SAD-BJP alliance would be wiped out as it was “not only facing just anti-incumbency but a tidal wave of people’s anger”.

He also accused the Badals of corruption. “Akali goons have made the life of ordinary citizens miserable with total control even over sand which has turned into gold for the ruling coterie headed by the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and his brother-in-law, Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia. Both father and son promised to provide transparent administration but the situation had deteriorated to such an extent that police stations refuse to register complaints without a nod from local Akali goons,” Bajwa alleged.
