And it began at 8 AM in J&K. Here are the live updates 8.35 AM: 9.07 AM: Voting in J&K began on a brisk note despite the severe cold. 9.08 AM: At many places, people has already started forming queues before the polling began at 8 am. 9.10 AM: 18.29 lakh voters will decide the fate of 213 candidates in the poll fray including Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, besides ministers Raman Bhalla, Sham Lal Sharma, Ajay Sadhotra and Dr Manohar Lal Sharma. 9.10 AM: Two former ministers, Shabir Ahmed Khan and Babu Singh, besides two ex-MPs Lal Singh and Choudhary Talib Hussain are also among the contestants whose fate will be decided by the electorate. 9.11 AM: In these 20 constituencies during the the 2008 assembly polls, BJP had won at 10 places, Congress (five), National Conference (two), PDP (one) and independents (two). 10.30 AM: Average voter turnout between 7-9 AM at 14.27℅. CM Hemant Soren's constituency among two lowest, at 11℅. 11.29 AM: 11.30 AM: Overall polling percentage till 10 AM in J&K Elections Phase-5th: 12.09 %. 12.00 PM: The constituency-wise voting percentage till 9 AM was 15 per cent at Rajmahal, 17 per cent at Borio, 15 per cent at Barhait, 14 per cent at Littipara, 16 per cent at Pakur, 15 per cent at Maheshpur and 15 per cent at Shikaripara, an Election Commission release said. 12.16 PM: At Nala it was 11 per cent, at Jamtara 13, Dumka 11, Jama 14, Jarmundi 12, Sarath 14.25, Poreyahat 14.6, Godda 15 and Mahagama 15.2 per cent, the release said. 12. 17 PM: A report from Pakur said voters of booth number 134 in Litipara constituency did not turn up in protest against lack of basic amenities.
