Kosi aid refund to Modi an election stunt: Sahay

Senior Congress leader Subodh Kant Sahay dubbed as 'political stunt',the decision of Nitish Kumar to return Modi's aid to Bihar.

A senior Congress leader and Union minister on Saturday dubbed as “an election stunt”,the decision of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to return to his Gujarat counterpart the aid to Bihar during the 2008 Kosi floods.

“It is nothing, but a political and election stunt,” Union Food Processing Minister Subodh Kant Sahay told reporters here.

Assembly elections in Bihar are due later this year.

Describing Kumar and his Gujarat counterpart Narendra Modi as the two faces of the same coin,he said the Bihar Chief Minister’s face as a secular politician stood exposed after he aligned with the BJP to run a coalition government in Bihar.

“Muslims will never fall prey to such a sinister political game plan,” Sahay said.

Stung by Gujarat government’s claim in local newspaper advertisements last week that it had liberally donated aid to Bihar during the Kosi floods,Kumar decided to return the Rs 5 crore assistance, lying unspent in the CM’s relief fund.

Kumar had also taken strong exception to a photograph in another newspaper advertisement showing him holding Modi’s hand.
